A lifelong quest to find a way,
to lose the ones who came before;
to keep our howling hearts at bay,
so we don’t miss them any more.
At odds with how the sea behaves,
in vain we scheme to cheat its flow.
We strain to shield them from the waves,
no man can tame the ocean though.
The tide will take them home one day,
and leave us lonely by the shore.
The next ones then must find a way,
to lose the ones who came before.
