Moments

Ephemeral these moments which we prize,
they happen, then the essence of them dies.
We’d pickle them to garnish tough goodbyes,
such luxuries the march of time denies.

Much better that we try to understand,
this world was built on ever-shifting sand.
Let go of all the moments when they land,
like pretty snowflakes melting in your hand.
